The dual-branded Hilton hotel that will be part of the beachside development project known as the Pompano Beach Fishing Village had its groundbreaking ceremony last week.

The five-story hotel is being built on what is currently a city-owned parking lot, just west of the Pompano Beach Pier and south of the Pier Parking Garage. The developers behind the hotel are father-and-son team Aashish and Girish Patel of the Fort Myers-based Madhav Group.
